Please tell us a little about yourself
I’m shop owner of Dressing Rooms Interiors where we offer an artistic collection of vintage home decor and furnishings in fresh color combinations and graphic patterns mixed with ethnic pieces for a soulful feel. I started the shop five years ago (in July) online and have recently grown into a brick and mortar studio in the Elizabeth area of Charlotte, NC.
Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?
I started blogging while at my corporate Human Resources job. I needed a creative outlet and blogging was the perfect solution. I would blog after work about my design ideas, finds and DIY projects. Now the blog has turned more into a journal where I talk about up coming projects, events and collaborations.
How would you describe your design style?
I would describe my personal design style as Bohemian California Glam. I love neutral furnishings, blacks and whites mixed with lots of texture, pattern, metals and plants. I also love color, which is reflected in my studio shop selections.
Where do you find most of your inspiration?
I find my most of inspiration from old design magazines. I have magazines from the 1960s that inspire my color selections, combinations and furniture finds.
Tell us about a recent project you’re proud of
For a while, I’ve been toying with the idea of having some vintage lampshades painted. I reached out to a local artist to create my vision. They sold immediately and I love how they turned out. I’m in the process of offering more custom shades in store.
